Tell me, have you ever made up a gift basket?

If so, have you ever struggled with those long rolls of cello basket wrap??

I bet you have. We all have. Anyone who’s ever wrapped a gift basket has and it’s not fun. From trying to find a flat surface big enough to work on to trying to keep everything from falling out of the basket, working with cello basket wrap can be incredibly frustrating.

Well, there’s a simple solution to that frustration…CELLO BASKET BAGS!

Cello basket bags

All you have to do is place your basket inside the cello basket bag and attach a bow at the top. That’s it!!

Doesn’t that sound like an amazing product?!

Cello basket bag sizes-

Let’s go through some of the key cello basket bag sizes and what you can use them for. We’ll start with the largest and working our way down to the smallest.

Remember: cello basket bags are FLAT bags so they only have 2 dimensions, width (across the bag) and length (the height of the bag). The opening of the bag is always at the top of the bag (it’s width).

Above is a sample of a cello basket bag laying flat.

26″ x 40″ Cello basket bags-

Our very largest size of cello basket bags is the 26″ x 40″. This bag is HUGE and ideal for most larger baskets/boxes.

To give you an idea of how big this cello basket bag is we stacked up 4 of our large 2 piece rigid gift boxes and they fit perfectly! This is even a great way to wrap up multi piece gifts, such as wedding gifts, as it keeps them all together in a stylish way.

You can also use this size for large bulky gift items such as sleeping bags, throw pillows and stuffed animals. Flat items such as framed prints or canvases would fit in this bag too.

You could fit most baskets/boxes up to 12 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ into one of these cello basket bags.

25″ x 30″ Cello basket bags-

The next size down is the 25″ x 30″ size and it’s our most popular! This bag seems to cover most basket/box sizes.

The rigid box we used for this sample is the 11 1/4″ x 11 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ and as you can see, it really fits in perfectly. This size would also work well for wicker baskets with tall handles (the Easter basket type).

You could fit most baskets/boxes up to 12″ x 12″ into one of these cello basket bags.

20″ x 30″ Cello basket bags-

Then we have our 20″ x 30″ size which is equally very popular. It’s just a little slimmer than the size above so it suits any narrower baskets/boxes.

For this sample, we used the 9″ x 9″ x 4 1/2″ sized rigid box. You can even stand the lid up at the back of the box and still have enough room at the top of the bag for your bow.

We also used this size for our beer gift basket post here.

You could fit most baskets/boxes up to 9 1/2″ x 9 1/2″ into one of these cello basket bags.

18″ x 24″ Cello basket bags-

Next, we have our 18″ x 24″ size, which suits most medium sized baskets/boxes.

In this sample we used our large gable box with it’s top open to show the height.

You could fit any basket/box up to 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ into one of these cello basket bags.

16″ x 20″ Cello basket bags-

The next one is the 16″ x 20″ size, which is another one that fits most medium sized baskets/boxes.

The rigid box we used for this sample is the 7″ x 7″ x 4″ and we stood the lid up at the back of the box in this one as well. Lots of room with these bags to add your bow at the top.

This is also the size we used for our cookie box post here.

You could fit most baskets/boxes up to 7 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ into one of these cello basket bags.

12″ x 20″ Cello basket bags-

Now we start getting into our smaller sized cello basket bags. Here we have the 12″ x 20″ size, which is really best suited for small sized baskets/boxes.

The rigid box we used for this sample is the 5 1/8″ x 5 1/8″ x 4 1/2″. For this one, we placed the lid under the box so we would have enough room left in the bag for any taller items. This size also works well for wrapping up flat items such as books, albums and framed prints.

You could fit most baskets/boxes up to 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ into one of these cello basket bags.

7″ x 20″ Cello basket bags-

Now even though this is still part of our cello basket bags collection, this little 7″ x 20″ size is a bit too small for an actual gift basket/box. However, you can fit oil or vinegar bottles, bath and skin care products and wine bottles too!!

To learn how to make the bow we use on our sample, see our How to tie a perfect bow post here.

This is also the size we used in our wine packaging ideas post here.

7″ x 15″ Cello basket bags-

Last but not least is the 7″ x 15″ size. This is my personal favourite and I like to keep several of these on hand at home.

It’s the absolute best size for mugs! Small gifts of mugs with coffee/tea/hot cocoa are easily and beautifully wrapped in one of these cello basket bags. You can also use them to wrap up gifts of baking, soaps, gourmet foods and candles.

What size of cello basket bag do I need?

Since cello basket bags are flat bags (without expandable size gussets) it can be a bit hard to figure out what size you’re going to need to fit your basket. To help you, we’ve created this simple way to calculate what size will work best.

Step #1-

Measure the width (left to right) of your basket/box

Step #2-

Measure the length (front to back) of your basket/box

Step #3-

Add the 2 measurements together and round up to the nearest cello basket bag size

For example-

Your basket/box measures 12” in width and 12” in length which equals 24“.

The closest size is the 25” x 30″ cello basket bag. Always round up to the next size.
