giant tissue paper daisies

You’ve volunteered to decorate the venue for an upcoming event.

Maybe it’s a school fundraising gala, parent appreciation tea, church group luncheon, or sports team banquet. Whatever the event is, you have a HUGE gym/room to decorate and almost NO budget. You’d like to make it look good but you’re just not sure how you’re going to do it.

Sound familiar? I bet it does.

So what’s the answer?

Tissue paper. More specifically, giant tissue paper daisies!

That’s right!

Tissue paper is budget friendly, easy to use, comes in many fantastic colors, can be transformed into almost any shape and used for many purposes. It also allows you to cover a lot of space quickly and beautifully!

That’s why we created these giant tissue paper daisies. These daisies can be used for any event, in any season, for any purpose. Imagine them for a baby shower or birthday party. Or even as a retail store display.

The possibilities are endless so let’s get creative!

Making your giant tissue paper daisies-

Step #1 – Get your tissue paper!

Lay your full sheet of tissue paper flat on your work surface.

For these giant tissue paper daisies, we used 5 sheets of white tissue. You can use up to 8 sheets if you’d like your daisies to be a bit fuller.

Step #2 – Layer your center!

Next, cut a full sheet of yellow tissue paper lengthwise in half. Lay a single sheet of the yellow on top of the white sheet as shown above.

If you’d like a fuller daisy center, stack up to 4 sheets of yellow tissue paper.

Step #3 – Accordion fold!

Starting at one end, carefully make accordion folds about 1″ wide, as shown in the above photo. Continue folding through to the end of the tissue sheet.

Once you’ve finished folding the tissue sheets, use a piece of ribbon (we used curling ribbon) to securely tie the center, as shown above.

Step #4 – Trim your ends!

Now, trim the ends of your folded tissue paper so that they’re rounded, as in the above photo.

Step #5 – Fluff your daisy!

Finally, it’s time to fluff your giant tissue paper daisies!

Starting on one side, carefully pull each yellow sheet up towards the center, as we did above. Then, stretch out the white daisy petals.

Repeat the above steps for the other side of the daisy.

You’ll need to tape the 2 sides of the daisy petals together so they form a complete circle, as shown above. We used double sided tape but you can also use a stapler.

And that’s how you make GIANT tissue paper daisies!

You can also make these giant tissue paper daisies stand up!

This way be an ideal decor option if you’re not able to tape them onto walls. You could also use them as stage or entrance decor. We’ve even used them as store display props!

To do this, you’ll need to make 2 daisies. Then, attach them, back to back, to a sturdy giftwrap tube. You can either wrap the tube in green crepe paper or coat with green paint. Add crepe paper leaves if desired.

Insert the giftwrap tube into a white gift box and tape it to the box. Cover this part with natural colored basket shred to hide the taped part.

You can also make smaller tissue paper daisies. Simply cut your tissue sheets in half and follow the same steps we used above.

The smaller daisies can be used for giftwrapping and table decor or grouped with the giant daisies for venue decor.

See how simple these giant tissue paper daisies are to make?

No need to feel overwhelmed the next time you need an inexpensive way to decorate your next event!
